Nothing lets you truly see inside the history and feel of a culture like art. Art museums are one of my favourite places to visit in any destination. Not only is the art a poignant reminder of the beauty that exists in every culture, but the buildings themselves are usually pretty darn impressive!

The Metroplitan Museum of Art, NYC

Spanning three locations around New York City, the MET is an art lovers dream.  The Fith Avenue location alone houses a variety of cross cultural art ranging in time from Ancient Egypt to more contemporary works.

Cost: $25 (USD)

Hours: Monday-Thursday 10 am–5:30 pm
Friday and Saturday: 10 am–9 pm

Tips: this museum is huge, take rests and have a plan if you’re on a limited time frame.

Musee D’Orsay, Paris

Housed in the former  Gare D’Orsay train station, the architecture of the building itself is half the draw. The open concept station makes for the perfect setting to view some of France’s most popular impressionist art pieces.

Cost: 14 E

Hours:  Tuesday-Sunday 9:30-6:00 ( closed Mondays)

Open until 9:45 PM Thursday evenings

Tips: Try being there when the museums open to beat the crowds to your favourite paintings

The Vatican Museum, Vatican City

After Centuries of collecting priceless works of art and artifacts from anywhere in reach of the Roman Empire, the Vatican has curriated quite an impressive collection.  The wealth of the Catholic Church was also quite handy in funding young burgeoning artists such as Da Vinci

Cost: 17E

Hours:  Monday- Saturday 9-6  (Closed Sunday)

Tips: Buy your tickets online in advanced, lines can be extremelly long. Expect a wait regardless to get through security checks.

The National Tile Museum, Lisbon

The National tile museum in Lisbon is an art museum you need to visit in 2019

When you think of art, tile probably wasn’t the first thing that came to mind, but wait until you see the impressive collection of traditional Portugese tile. Housed in a former convent, you could just as easily get lost in the beauty of the architecture as well as the art.

Cost: 5E

Hours: Tuesday to Sunday 10-6 ( closed Mondays)

Isabella Gardner Museum, Boston

An immersive experience making this museum an art gallery like no other. Lose yourself in the mysterious curation of art, flowers, textiles, furniture as well as other quirky finds.

Cost : $15 ( USD)

Hours:  Wednsday to Monday 11-5 ( closed Tuesdays)

Open until 9PM Thursdays
