Known as the San Francisco of Europe because of its hilly streets, Lisbon offers innumerable vantage points from which to view this incredibley picturesque city.
Although the list could go on, these are the top 5 places with the best views in Lisbon:
Castelo de Sao Jorge
Many locals would disagree because of the fee required to enter the castle, but this was my favourite view of the city because it was completely uninterrupted. Aim to be there for when the castle opens for the best crowd-free views.
Miradouro das Portas do Sol
This city view is only accentuated by the warm purple blooms that appear in the hot summer months. Tile decorated benches surrounding a fountain make for the perfect frame for your photos.
Park Eduardo VII
Although located outside of the main historic area, this park provides spectacular views off landscaped gardens and rising buildings of the upcoming new city.
Miradouro de Nosa Senhora do Monte
One of the most popular view points in the city, I found this one to be overcrowded and with similar views as the Sao Jorge Castle only of a different angle. What made this place special was the small church located here. Inside hides a special “throne” that is supposed to bring good luck to expectant mothers should they sit on it.
Rooftop Bar of H10 Duque de Loule Boutique Hotel
Who doesn’t love a tasty cocktail and a good view? One of the best I found in the city was the rooftop bar at the H10 Duque de Loule hotel. Complete with cozy blankets to snuggle up in if the evening air is cool, this is the perfect spot to watch the sun set.
