How to Spend 24 Hours in Portland

Portland is a young, vibrant, laid back city that is loyal to its hipster-friendly reputation. Its small size makes it perfect for a quick visit, with enough time to taste your way through all the coffee and food this town has to offer. Here’s how to spend 24 hours in Portland:

Choose a Neighbourhood

Portland is very neighbourhood based, and if you’re only visiting for a short amount of time its best to make the most of it by staying local. Choose an Airbnb in a trendy neighbourhood that you want to explore. My Favourite was North Williams Ave!

Take a Trip Downtown

While downtown isn’t the highlight of Portland, it is essential to visit a few highlights. Powell’s Books is the largest used book store in North America and well worth the visit. Step across the street to visit Union Way, a shopping arcade that’s home to a variety of ultra hipster shops and places to eat. Ramen for lunch and Hawaiian shaved ice for dessert? Yes, Please!

Visit the International Rose Test Garden

Not only is it fun to explore the colourful Rose varieties, but it’s free! It’s also across from the Japanese Gardens if you wish to explore those (at an extra cost).

Have a few extra days? Why not consider making this part of a road trip along the Oregon Coast Highway! Find out what stops to add to your road trip here.
